In the present age of "Technology comprehensive victory",the technicalization process has caused a huge shock and impact in the field of art,changed the traditional existence way of art,and become the agent of contemporary art change.From the beginning of the creation of printmaking,it depends on the technological changes,including the special relationship between technology and art.Under the external influence of the new technology,the traditional printmaking media has changed.Obviously,this kind of change is not only in the pure printing technology and image style update,but also the concept and the significance of traditional printmaking have received a huge challenge.It is necessary for us to reinterpret the nature and the phenomenon of printmaking,to respond what the present printmaking is,and to provide the possible ways for the art facing the future.In this paper,the first chapter is the derivation of the problem.Starting from the controversial phenomenon of the digital prints,we observe the causes of differences from the perspective of market,property,technology,artists,etc.,and summarize that its root cause lies in the "printmaking".Then,how does the traditional concept of printmaking accept digital or new media and incorporate them into itself? Is there a certain boundary when digital technology is applied to printmaking creation study? The contradiction is in this place.Behind the differences,we stress on two problems: 1.The significance and the value of printmaking should be emphasized;2.Together with the contemporary art,printmaking faces the common crisis in this simulacrum era.The second chapter is tracing the origin of printmaking.We are trying to get the clarity of the essence and the phenomena of printmaking art.The established concept of printmaking cannot be taken as a natural starting point,and we must look for the power hidden in the printmaking and artistic roots through tracing back to the historical realm.As an existence of art with spiritual pointing,it represents the real world in a way of art occurrence.The third chapter is the response to the problem.We analyze some actively creative contemporary printmaking artists and try to specifically respond to the question what the current printmaking art is.One possible way is to explore the development situation of printmaking in the contemporary through preserving its independent concept;The other possible way is to express the ideas by using print media and print thought,which starts from the contemporary art.What's important is to speak “in a way that nature and human cannot speak” and to revive our true feelings about the life world.The fourth chapter is the self narration of the author's printmaking creation,which makes clear the creation thought and direction during the graduate student.In this process,we are more sure that the expression of “human being” is much more important,though the formal languages and technical means are important.In the conclusion,we summed up that the printmaking would never be perished and especially at present it plays an important role,under the condition that the print creators should first be artists and the prints should first be arts.The present art condenses the present thought,and the technology should be settled in the artistic creation and human life in this simulacrum era.
