Wayfinding and signage system design covers broad fields, which had been developing a cross-disciplinary design from the twenties of the last century. Nowadays, the definition of the wayfinding and signage has been identified not only the meaning of the signs, it has gradually become a essential and supporting system in urban public space.Nowadays, with the rapid development of China’s economy, the industrial development of the many regions have formed a new trend that is the rise of the creative industries, which also has affected the model of our consumption’s cultural development, especially in the "Modern City" —— Shanghai. In the Shanghai, the development of creative industries has sprung up like mushrooms in everywhere. So that is why Shanghai has become one of the more mature cities in the developing of creative industries. This thesis mainly talks about the signage and wayfinding system design in the Shanghai creative industries, and regard this as cutting point for the study. The study of the Shanghai creative industries have been researched and concluded by different kinds of development models.This thesis mainly point on four basic types of Shanghai creative industries, which are relying on the reconstruction of schools and old buildings, new-built areas, and relying on the traditional basis of this area, analyses the signage and wayfinding system collect a variety of guiding, descriptive, administrative, and other the functional meaning of wayfinding and signage system. With the more extension space in the environment, the higher requirements of the functional design on wayfinding and signage system design. Unlike other commercial industries, there is more systematic in the design, and also more compact to the hierarchical spatial level in positioning design. Due to the characteristics of shanghai regional culture, on design of wayfinding and signage has performed respectively chatactor roles in the Shanghai creative industries. These performances of design are based on their own geographical environment, overall arrangement, and the historical culture reconstructing or building of design of wayfinding and signage. Through multiple investigations of the Shanghai creative industries, writer explores a good wayfinding system, raise exist problems, and think future the development of wayfinding and signage systems.The methods of all the article by case studies, field trips, reference books and other materials, respectively, is proposed from regional, international, functional and visual of design study on Shanghai creative industries. And combining semiotics, color, emotional elements, geographical and cultural elements with the environment to discuss the problem. After that, striving to provide a feasible and foundational theory for the design of wayfinding and signage system in Shanghai creative industries.
