Application Of CAT Tools In Social Science Document Translation Activities

The paper is a translation internship report,which aims at exploring the frequency and condition of application of CAT tools in actual professional translation activities,including electronic dictionaries,machine-aided translation tools,machine translation tools,search engines and other related tools.The author spent most of his spare time in the summer vacation of 2016 working with translation projects in Guangzhou Lan-bridge Information Technology Co.,Ltd,short for Lan-bridge in the report.According to the translation projects the author had been involved in,he selected two of them to demonstrate the performance of CAT tools based on the consistency and language style of translated text and discuss the frequency and condition of application of CAT tools so that the author could have a general understanding of the role CAT tools played in social science document translation.Meanwhile,the author shared his experience on selection and application of CAT tools,thus helping students to gain a correct view of CAT tools and make good use of them.At the end of this report,the author thought conscientiously about translator's role in professional translation activities to give some constructive suggestions to students who would like to work in language services companies.
