| In 1976,the April 5th Movement broke out,the emotion that Chinese people had suppressed for many years promoted an earthshaking historical change in China’s cultural and artistic circles.In the earthshaking change,the photography industry first changed the mainstream visual experience featuring “noble character,greatness,devotion to people”and “positive image,vividness and smoothness,bright color” as well as started an exciting movement for changes in contemporary photography art.Nowadays,whether the documentary photography that full of humanistic care or concept photography that full of realism have a profound impact on the traditional viewing habits and visual experience,and photography art has also penetrated into the context of contemporary art for a long time and becomes one of the most powerful mediums of creation for artists.The photographers in Shaanxi made great contributions in the first 30 years of the movement and made the photography of Shaanxi an extremely important part in the contemporary Chinese history of photography.The “Group of Shaanxi”,centering on Hu Wugong、Hou Dengke,、Pan Ke、 Shi Baoxiu,recorded the life of the people living in the western China with spontaneous sense of mission and from the simple and grass-root angle.Their realism-based works and criticism made the “Northwest style” popular in the photography industry of China.But in the period of just entering the 21 st century,the“Group of Shaanxi” has increasingly become the glorious history.The young Shaanxi photographers rarely create the glories like the photographers of older generation,contrast with the booming photography industry of China,Shaanxi photography shows far away from reality and gradually becoming marginal,it is no longer in a vanguard position.In this regard,the Shaanxi photographers that aware of the problems restart through reflection and the process of leading contemporary photography in Shaanxi to a whole new stage of development are the focus of this study.Against the background of the development of contemporary photography art of China,the paper studies the development of contemporary photography art of Shaanxi since 2000,compares the past glories of“Group of Shaanxi”with the dilemma of current Shaanxi photographers and observes the silent photography circle of Shaanxi in the first 10 years of the 21 st century.The paper further points out the dilemma and problems facing the current Shaanxi photographers from 4 perspectives,such as the pressure of past gloriesand past concepts、self-sufficient culture and superficial observation、indifference to the dilemma and vulgar salon,weak academic competence and lack of exchanges.Based on this,the paper analyzes how the current Shaanxi photographers reflect and restart as well as actively respond to the problems by photography.Finally,the photographer of Shaanxi reconstructed the relationship between reality and self with the photography medium,completed self redemption and rebirth,and stood at a new historical starting point for the conclusion of this paper.The paper is divided into 3 parts: the first part focuses on the first 10 years of the 21 st century as well as analyzes and summarizes the present situation and problems in the development of contemporary photography art of Shaanxi;the second part expounds and analyzes how Shaanxi photographers reconstruct the relationship between the reality and themselves by the medium of photography from 2010 to now after they reflect;the third part draws a periodical conclusion and puts forward the expectation for the development of contemporary photography art of Shaanxi. |
