As “the Belt and Road” development strategy was carred out by Chinese government in March 2015,a new round of Chinese learning boom has been set up around the world.People learning Chinese has been over 100 million,among which the overseas ethnic Chinese students account for a major part.Thus improving the level of their CHL plays a vital role on popularizing Chinese all around the world.However,for such a long time,academic studies on the CHL learning of ethnic Chinese students have not been paid as much attention as they deserve.Most researches on international Chinese education were mainly for Non-Chinese students.Italy is an important node in “the Belt and Road”and a hot spot in the new period for Chinese immigrant who have formed a large group there,so the learning status of the Chinese-Italian students deserves to be studied.According to the latest heritage language theory and relevant learning theories,the author defines the Chinese-learning of Chinese-Italian students in the new period as Chinese heritage language learning.To promote the CHL of ethnic Chinese students,the first thing to do is to realize their learning status of it.Through the five parts: the usage of the language,identity,learning motivation,attitude and strategies as well as their existing Chinese level,which collectively influence the students' learning situation,strive to reflect more comprehensively the status of students' Chinese learning.The author uses the method of quantitative research and empirical investigation to study the learning situation of ethnic Chinese students in Livorno Chinese language school.The results of the survey were analyzed by social statistics software.The survey results show that the ethnic Chinese students in the Livorno Chinese School in Italy have generally formed a dual identity.They use Chinese language frequently.Their attitude,motivation and strategy for language learning are in an upper level.Students' learning are affected by such factors as backgrounds,genders,how many times they have been to China and the time exposing to Chinese language.Based on the results of the study,the author puts forward suggestions and countermeasures to enhance the learning effect of Italian Chinese students' heritage language from family,school,social and national level.
