A Practice Report Of Simulated Consecutive Interpreting On Press Conference By Wang Yi In 2016

In recent years,there are increasingly frequent exchanges in all aspects between China and the world and China has received much attention from the world.Interpretation has played a more and more important role in the process of cross-cultural communication that cannot be neglected,especially the annual press conference by Foreign Minister which will cause wide public concern,and it is the window to convey the voice of diplomacy to the world for China.This practice report is based on the author's simulated interpreting about the press conference by Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the year of 2016 together with reorganizing the interpretation records and finally completing the report.This practice report is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,mainly presenting the press conference by Foreign Minister this time,the background for the emergence of interpretation and the Interpretive Theory.The second part is about the features of press conference and requirements for the qualities of interpreters.The third part is case analysis,taking examples to explain how to use the method of conversion,amplification and omission to conduct the consecutive interpretation under the framework of the Interpretive Theory.The fourth part is the summary of interpretation practice,recollecting and reorganizing the shortcomings in the whole process of practice and what to improve in the future.This practice will have great guidance and reference for the interpretation and study in future;the author found the existing problems at present stage and realized that only strengthening the interpreting practice constantly and taking the targeted remedy to make up can one be more skilled to apply the interpretation techniques to practice.
