Under the background of the new era, water resources are the key factor restricting the healthy development of the whole society.Nowadays, the increasing waste of water resources has become a major problem for all countries today. Therefore, countries need to carry out cultural exchanges and learn from each other’s available measures and practices.Interpretation acts as the bridge for communication.Guided by Paris interpretive theory, this report uses EPA’s National Water Reuse Action Plan Conference as the material to explore the translation techniques for improving the quality of interpretation in this simulated communication, and summarizes the factors affecting the fluency of interpretation. The report found that addition, omission and conversion are frequently used as translation techniques.Slang problems, redundant content, semantic deficiency and differences between Chinese and English are the factors that affect the quality of conference interpretation.Conference interpretation is characterized by immediacy, numerous professional terms and extensive use of elliptical sentences, which makes it difficult to interpret. The study of interpreting skills in conference communication can help interpreters improve the quality of interpretation, and better understand the differences between Chinese and English, making the interpretation more fluent and natural based on the accuracy of target language.By means of a case study, the report discusses the selection of appropriate translation techniques, which are some of value to the relevant interpretation work in the future.Meanwhile, through this simulated practice, the report could raise people’s attention to water resources protection, and call on people to have better awareness of water saving knowledge and protect their own countries and regions of water resources.
