A Report On A Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of Foreign Minister Wang Yi's Press Conferences

Press conference is a significant channel for China to communicate with the world which conveys the China's development and China's views on world hot issues.Through journalists'report,the world gains deeper understandings of China.In this process,the interpreting of press conferences plays an important role to introduces China's development and conveys China's voice over hot issues in the world.Domestic researches on press conference interpreting are insufficient.Many analysis are based on a single interpretation or a single practice.Nevertheless,press conferences have a variety of forms,contents and degrees of formality.Therefore,study of a single interpreting practice cannot reflect the generalized situations in press conferences.To solve this problem,the author selected three press conferences of the foreign minister Wang Yi to make interpreting practices and make analysis,which focuses on the general problems in press conference interpreting and try to find out solutions.Based on the practice and the report,the author hopes to provide a reference for the future researches and practices of press conference interpreting.This practice is guided by the interpretive theory of translation and based on documentary research method and experimental summery method.The author carefully studied the different press conferences of Foreign Minister Wang Yi and analyzed the general difficulties and problems of the press conferences.After the practice,according to the interpretive theory,the author divided the interpreting process into two phases which are the understanding stage and the expression stage In the understanding stage,the difficulties include the slip of tongue,the intensive meaning and fast speaking,the unskilled Chinese of foreign journalist and useless information.The difficulties in the expression stage are repetition,unknown concept and lack of context.In the analyses,the author made a comparative study between the practice interpretation and the official interpretation for the purpose of finding solutions.
