The Premier’s press conference each year draws extensive attention both at home and abroad.It provides an insight into China’s social and economic development in the next few years,playing a crucial role in international publicity.The report is based on the simulation of consecutive interpreting for 2020 Premier Li’s press conference under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.It is composed of four parts.At first,the author gives a brief description of the interpretation task,including an introduction to the press conference,the speaker’s speaking style,standards of interpreting,as well as three periods of the interpreting task,including preparations,the simulation of consecutive interpreting and post-interpreting work.The second part is theoretical framework,in which main ideas of the Interpretive Theory and the Triangular Model are introduced.Case analysis is the core part of the thesis,with a special focus on the use of deverbalization and the stage of re-expression.Based on the use of deverbalization,the author discusses linguistic foundation and cognitive supplements,which are two indispensable factors to deverbalization.Specifically,a solid linguistic foundation means a good command of vocabularies,syntax,grammar and an accurate understanding of words in certain verbal and situational context.Cognitive supplements consist of background knowledge,emotional significance and contextual cognition.At the stage of re-expression,the author summarizes interpreting strategies adopted while interpreting,including explanation,generalization,selective omission,free interpreting,literal interpreting and logical integration.At last,the author reflects on the interpreting task and summarizes what she has learned in the interpreting task to make further improvement. |
