Along with the development of global economy, the number of international joint ventures in China has been drastically mounting.Co-established by Yuntianhua Group and Israel Chemicals Ltd.,Yunnan Phosphate Haikou Co.,Ltd(YPH)is a joint venture in Yunnan Province whose operation centers on phosphate mining and fertilizer production. The author of this thesis was designated by a language service company to complete corresponding interpreting assignment when a group of foreign engineers came to YPH to optimize the energy efficiency in the corporation. And this thesis is an interpreting report on one of the meetings in this interpreting task.Hopefully, this report could contribute a fair share to the cause of scientific and technological interpreting researches. In this interpreting task, the Interpreter used “the interpretive theory” raised by the Paris School and the principle of fidelity described by Gile as guiding principles to facilitate the completion of the task.Based on the theories, the Interpreter adopted several interpreting strategies such as amplification, abridging, paraphrasing, and zero-interpreting etc.to overcome problems that appeared during the interpreting process. This interpreting report consists of five chapters. In Chapter One,a transcript that contains the source speech(English)and the interpretation(Chinese)is presented. In Chapter Two,the Interpreter describes the interpreting task in terms of content, requirements and expectation. In Chapter Three, the whole process of the interpreting task from preparation to post-interpreting evaluation is presented. In Chapter Four, the Interpreter focuses on case studies, which mainly show what strategies are used to cope with problems on the basis of the above-mentioned theories. Finally,a summary of the report is presented in Chapter Five.
