On The Outlook On Qin And Han In The Period Of Gaozu And Taizong Of Tang Dynasty

Being an important period in Chinese history by laying the foundation of the long time unification of China,Qin and Han Dynasties cannot be ignored.Following the tradition of impressing on the historical experience in the former dynasty,Emperor Gaozu and Taizong of Tang Dynasty and their ministers attached great importance to the reflection and exploration of Qin-Han history,and to function of historical science to rule the country.History is a mirror for our guidance.The Emperor Gaozu and Emperor Taizong of Tang and their ministers were very good at checking the success and failure in governing the country and searching the solution to practical problems from history,especially Qin and Han.It is the important tradition of Chinese in ancientry to review the history of Qin and Han Dynasties.From Qin and Han Dynasties to Sui and Tang Dynasties,the “system of big unification” in Chinese history faced a complete and typical circular from establishment and solidification to collapse and reestablishment.It is identified that centralization relied on special mechanism and path to continue in imperial periods.This typical circulation in the history of Qin and Han Dynasty has significant referential value to Emperor Gaozu and Taizong of Tang,and their ministers.At the earlier stage of establishment of Tang Dysnasty,Emperor Gaozu and Taizong and their ministers paid attention to reflecting and exploring the history of Qin and Han Dynasty.Emperor Gaozu and Taizong and their ministers knew about the history of Qin and Han Dynasty mainly from historic documents.Under the government of Emperor Gaozu,the rulers concentrated on rethinking the history of Qin and Han Dynasty.At the beginning of Taizong time,they collected about 200 thousands volumes in total belonged to four categories(??),including Confucian classics(Jing?),history(shi?),philosophy(zi?)and literature(ji?),and then stored them in Macro Hall(???)and built Macro Pavilion(???)to employ talents with excellent Chinese literatures all over the country so as to lay a solid foundation of references and talents for researching and referencing the history of Qin and Han Dynasty.Their view of Qin and Han history had intense characteristics of morality history.The ideology in the time of Emperor Gaozu and Taizong of Tang was Confucianism.They rethought more on the kind politics of the emperors and officials in Qin and Han Dynasty.They also promoted kind officials and punished cruel officials,and advocated officials to learn advantages and avoid disadvantages in realistic political lives.The essence of their historical epistemology was that stable social order and political harmony was thought being stemmed from human morality.They criticized the cruel governing of Qin Shi Huang(???)and the crazy military policy of Emperor Hanwudi(???)of Han Dynasty,and praised Han Gaozu(???)and Emperor Wen and Jing(?????)of Han Dynasty.They had referenced the history of Qing Dynasty and Han Dynasty specifically.Emperor Gaozu of Tang and Emperor Taizong of Tang take same measures to discuss losing and getting,management and development in the history of Qing Dynasty and Han Dynasty.They were used to compare their faced problems with similar problems in the history of Qing Dynasty and Han Dynasty and tried to learn political wisdom and solve realistic problems.They rethought the history of Qing Dynasty and Han Dynasty and reevaluated losing and getting in their management as well.Our researches presents that at the beginning of Tang Dynasty,emperors and officials paid attention to discussing on,rethinking about and reference to the history of Qin and Han Dynasty.On the other hand,generally speaking,their view of Qin and Han Dynasty in earlier Tang Dynasty was subject to the category of Chinese ancient history,and to Chinese ancient intellectual history with an obvious characteristic of morality.
