With the overall improvement of English level of Chinese people as well as the upgrade of global Chinese learning heat,Sino-foreign culture exchanges have taken place frequently in recent years, which includes input and output of novels. However,in translation texts, good and bad are mixed together and translation quality needs to be enhanced urgently. There is a certain kind of romantic fiction, the language of which lacks fluency. In addition, they are not very coherent in rhythm and conventional in logic, which leads to difficulties on the translation work. The source text of the translation report The First Bad Man-Miranda July's first fulllength novel,is such a typical romantic fiction.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, the author starts from readers' response and analyzes the story feature, ideological feature and aesthetic feature of the source text and explores related translation key points.Equivalence of language includes equivalence at lexical level and equivalence at sentence level,in which translation skills including diverse translation of the same word, identical translation of the same word, amplification, word order adjustment, logical linking words and perspective transformation are adopted. In the part of equivalence of style, translation skills of concise language, narration with flashbacks and psychological description are explored.Through this translation practice, the author knows that one should firstly get a better understanding of the source text and its related cultural background information.During the translation, the translator needs to take thinking model and expression habits of the target language readers into consideration. The translator needs to combine the differences on thinking and expression and make some transformation with related translation skills, which aims to help the target language readers to get identical reading feeling with the source text readers as far as possible.
