Short-term Preparations' Impactson The Quality Of Interpreting From The Perspective Of Efforts Model

Since China's reform and opening up,it has more and more communications with the rest of the world.All kinds of initiatives and activities have been launched to promote the communications between China and the rest of the world.Interpretation has become an important part for these activities,because language barriers between Chinese and languages used by the rest of the world can never be ignored.For many years,a great amout of efforts have gone to the interpretation research and many of them focus on the short-term memory and note-taking skills of interpreters.Only few of them focus on the short-term preparations of an interpreter.This paper takes a new perspective and looks at the effects of short-term preparations on the quality of consecutive interpreting.This paper is a practice report on the author's own consecutive interpreting experience.Themeeting is highly related to mining and geology,which is a professional field.Based on Gile'seffrots model,the paper reviews the short-termpreparations in all aspects before the meeting,and then analyzes andconcludes how short-term preparations have helped to improve the accuracy,fluency,meaning completenss and logic explicitness of the interpretation.
