A Report On Commentary Translation In The TV Program This Land

Culture has now been put in a very important position to accord with the quick economic development,while China is winning more and more attention all over the world.To introduce Chinese culture to the people of foreign countries has thus become China's national strategy to keep its international image.This paper mainly focuses on the commentary translation in the TV program This Land which is launched by Guangshan Cultural Affairs Bureau and Television Station.The relevant officials spent seven months in collecting and collating the traditional folk culture of Guangshan County,Henan Province,such as,traditional drama,dance,village,fine art,legend,literature and art,folk music,art,flower fair,sacrifice,custom,famed scenery,the historical change of county area and many other categories.By dealing with difficulties in the translation of the commentary on This Land and with specific examples in vocabulary,syntax of the text,explains how to choose adequate translation strategy or methods in translating this kind of text when translator meets the problems of vocabulary,syntax and other aspects.In the translation of lexical level,the translation of culture-loaded words mainly uses transliteration,transliteration plus annotation,literal translation,literal translation and other methods.In the translation of syntactic level,the translator adopts literal translation,combination translation,inversion and division,and uses different methods to enhance the readability of the translation.Through the translation of commentary on the TV program This Land,combined with Skopos theory,the translator deeply understands what needs to be improved in professional skills and basic knowledge.The translator intensely realizes that except for the well-knit basic skills of English and Chinese language,a great deal efforts must be paid for thinking and revising the target text over and over again to make them follow the original version faithfully and accurately.In the meanwhile,the translation is also a process of accumulating experience and teaching which offers some enlightenment for further study.
