The report chooses the author's experience in being the interpreter for a European business delegation in Guangzhou as the example, with a detailed description of task background, pretask preparation and on-site process.According to the content involved, the task is regarded as a liaison interpreting practice under the background of business activities. It is generally believed that liaison interpreting presents lower barriers compared to the conference interpreting. However,in real activities, liaison interpreters would face more complex circumstances, topics, and other situations, which also create many difficulties for the interpreter. In addition, the difficulties of occasion switching and multiple topics in this task further increased the difficulty, therefore, the consciousness of subjectivity for an interpreter in liaison interpreting would help to guarantee the communicative purposes and enable the interpreter to appropriately respond to various occasions and situations. The subjectivity of translator/interpreter can be analyzed in different perspectives. Moreover, the interpreter's subjectivity would bring influences on the process and result of the interpreting activity. After realizing the features of liaison interpreting activities and reviewing previous research on the subjectivity of the translator/interpreter,the author chose a framework with four aspects: self-discipline,language deliberation, information arrangement, and paralinguistic information,to make a case study on the manifestations of her subjectivity based on her interpretation and performance. The intentions of this report were to observe and evaluate how the author manifested her subjectivity during the process and what results caused thereby, thus to provide guidance to future liaison interpreting practices.
