The main features of a corporate profile are informative function and vocative function and so on.Due to cultural differences, these functions between China and the West are reflected in different emphasis. It is the characteristics and features of corporate profiles that make the translation of company and other styles quite distinctive, such as formality and publicity. In recent years, with more attention attached to the translation of corporate profiles, the quality of the translation is climbing, but literal translation is excessively applied in some corporate profiles, which keeps heavy Chinese signs in words, sentences and even thinking ways, regardless of the natural use of the target language, resulting in the inadequate consideration for the target language readers. The factors above will largely deteriorate the translation quality.Translation research perspectives on this kind of text are mostly from language and culture at present. To some extent, the indirect translation of enterprises is lack of systemic practical guidance. In the 1990 s,German functional translation theory began to be introduced to China, providing an available method that is completely new for translation researchers. This report focuses on the core theory of the functional translation theories—Skopos, combined with the features of corporate profile translation, which id practical, purposeful and precise.Through a comparative study between Chinese and English translation, the author, pointing out some key points, such as the distinction in thinking patterns and language sequences, comes up with some practical translation skills under the guidance of Skopos, such as addition and reduction, division and synthesization, and further the improvement of target text of company profiles.
