A Report On The Translation Practice Of World Energy Outlook 2015

The translation task called World Energy Outlook 2015.The book introduced the current energy sitution and the future energy trends.Energy is the material foundation for people to survive and plays an important part in social development.Today because of the reckless use of energy and low energy efficiency,the energy problem is very severe and becomes an international-concerned problem.At the same time,the translation referring to energy has become hot.The translation field pays much attention to it and energy translation has become a translation type.Because of this,this translation work is done according to Skopos Theory and combined with the energy translation features.During translating,each county’s energy condition,the condition of single type of energy and the world energy trend are put in the first place.This is good for energy monitoring,energy adjustment and energy sustainable development.And this can provide information for energy experts to make precise strategies,to conduct energy R&D and to strengthen international cooperation.Based on the guidance of the Skopos Theory,the writer analyzes the translation practice from vocabulary,syntax and discourse levels using specific translation methods and techniques,such as applying literal translation and free translation,conversion,amplification and omission at vocabulary level;applying splitting and combined translation,order changed methods and so on at syntax level;at discourse level,mainly using grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion.Using translation methods and techniques the writer has a deep analysis on the text and translation and indicates how the Skopos Theory plays an important role in the translation practice.The paper includes six chapters.First,introducing the translation background,translation task and translation procedure.Then,introducing the Skopos Theory.Next,paying great importance on the detailed translation methods and techniques using examples.Finally,summary and inspiration about the translation practice.
