A Study On The Relationship Between Self-control And Relapse Tendency Of Female Compulsory Isolation Drug Addicts

Objective1.To know the status of female compulsory isolation drug addicts' relapse tendency,and to explore the relations between trait coping style,self-control and relapse tendency.2.To explore the counseling effect of self-control therapy to female compulsory isolation drug addicts.Methods1.Research study Using Drug Self-control Questionnaire,Trait coping style Questionnaire and Re-addiction Tendency Questionnaire,tested a random sample 525 female addicts from one female compulsory isolation rehabilitation center in Shanxi Province to know the present status of female compulsory isolation drug addicts' relapse tendency,to explore the relations among relapse tendency,trait coping style and self-control.2.Intervention study72 female compulsory isolation drug addicts were randomly selected as subjects,and randomly assigned to two groups.The intervention group members were taught by self-control group consulting for seven lessons,150 minutes pertime.The self-control group consulting lessons were worked out according to survey results and psychological characteristics of female compulsory isolation drug addicts.The control group members were not receiving any experimental treatment.3.Measurement Using the same questionnaires of research study,the female compulsory isolation drug addicts were tested as pretest,after intervention and two months later.Analysis the data by repeated measurement analysis of variance,independent t-test and so on.Results1.Research study results The total score of female compulsory isolation drug addicts' self-control questionnaire was 32.62±8.55.Married female compulsory isolation drug addicts scored higher than unmarried female compulsory isolation drug addicts significantly(p<0.05).The total score of female compulsory isolation drug addicts' relapse tendency was 53.17 ± 11.29,unmarried female compulsory isolation drug addicts significantly got highest score among married,unmarried and divorced female compulsory isolation drug addicts(p<0.05).Female compulsory isolation drug addicts' self-control and trait coping style had a significant correlation with relapse tendency.Self-control and trait coping style also can predict relapse tendency.2.Intervention study results Using repeated measurement analysis of variance to analyze two groups' data of pretest,immediate post-test and delay post-test on relapse tendency,trait coping style and self-control.The results were as follows.(1)There were significantly treatment effects of relapse tendency total score(F=49.517,p<0.001),rehabilitation intend(F=26.72,p<0.001),material substitution(F=6.107,P<0.05)and social support(F=4.610,p<0.05).The intervention group members' scores were significantly lower than the control group(p<0.01).Comparison within group showed that,the intervention group members' relapse tendency total scores in the immediate post-test were significantly lower than the relapse tendency total scores in the pretest(p<0.01).There was no statistically difference in the control group(p>0.05).(2)There were significantly treatment effects of negative coping style(F=14.886,p<0.001)and positive coping style(F=6.553,p<0.05).The intervention group members' negative coping style scores were significantly lower than the control group(p<0.001),and positive coping style scores were significantly higher than the control group(p<0.05).Comparison within group showed that,the intervention group members got significantly lower negative coping style scores(p<0.01),and significantly higher positive coping style scores in the immediate post-test than the pretest(p<0.01).Therewas no statistically difference in the control group(p>0.05).(3)There were significantly treatment effects of self-control total scores(F=65.570,p<0.001),behavioral self-control(F=36.527,p<0.001),emotional stability(F=57.823,p<0.001),consequence self-knowledge(F=37.158,p<0.001),emotional self-control(F=31.657,p<0.001)and behavior execution(F=78.940,p<0.001).The intervention group members' self-control total scores were significantly higher than the control group(p<0.05).Comparison within group showed that,the intervention group members got significantly higher self-control total scores in the immediate post-test than the pretest(p<0.001).There was no statistically difference in the control group(p>0.05).Conclusions1.The female compulsory isolation drug addicts in this study had low level of self-control ability and high level relapse tendency.Umarried female compulsory isolation drug addicts' self-control scores were lower than married female compulsory isolation drug addicts',but their relapse tendency scores were higher than married female compulsory isolation drug addicts'.2.The self-control can affect the relapse tendency directly,and also can affect relapse tendency indirectly through the trait coping style.Trait coping style was a intermediary role between the self-control and relapse tendency.3.The self-control group guidance not only reduced the level of female compulsory isolation drug addicts' relapse tendency and the level of negative coping style affectively,but also improved level of female compulsory isolation drug addicts' self-control and positive coping style affectively.
