With the network hot words such as"screen slaves","mobile phone overuse"mushrooming, the phenomenon of "young people immersed in mobile phone use withignorant of others beside completely " happens anytime and anywhere. As a result, thelively interactions between people becomes less than before and people are cold andindifferent to each other. Therefore the negative impacts brought by the mobile phonehave became a hot social issue. This study aims to know the present situation of mobilephone addiction tendency in college students, confirm the locus of control has theprediction effect to mobile phone addiction tendency, and establish theoretical structuralmodel among the locus of control, social anxiety and mobile phone addiction tendencybased on the Davis’s pathologic internet use "cognitive-behavioral" model. In order toprovide some recommendations to prevent college students’ mobile phone addictioneffectively.Questionnaires are conducted in the869college students from Beijing.The majorresults are:(1)The problem of mobile phone addiction tendency in college students need tobe paid more attention. The mobile phone addiction tendency rates are28.9%.22.7%ofcollege students feel negative impact on the phone frequently and6%of them areimmersed in mobile phone use with ignorance of others beside completely.(2)There are significant correlations among locus of control, social-evaluatedanxiety and mobile phone addiction tendency. Externality has significant positivecorrelation with mobile phone addiction tendency. Social-evaluated anxiety hassignificant positive correlation with mobile phone addiction tendency. Externality hassignificant positive correlation with social-evaluated anxiety. Internality has significantnegative correlation with mobile phone addiction tendency. Internality has significantnegative correlation with social-evaluated anxiety. Further comparative study foundthat the higher externality group of college students’ mobile phone addiction tendency issignificantly higher than lower group, the higher social-evaluated anxiety group ofcollege students’ mobile phone addiction tendency is significantly higher than lowergroup,too. (3)Both locus of control and social-evaluated anxiety have predictions onmobile phone addiction tendency. Externality has positive prediction on mobile phoneaddiction tendency. Internality has negative prediction on mobile phone addictiontendency. Part of social-evaluated anxiety has prediction on mobile phone addictiontendency, especially fear of negative evaluation and distress.(4)The social-evaluated anxiety has partially mediating effect betweenexternality and mobile phone addiction tendency. Externality has significant positiveeffect on social-evaluated anxiety. Social-evaluated anxiety has significant positiveeffect on mobile phone addiction tendency. Externality has significant positive effect onmobile phone addiction tendency. This indicate that externality can contribute to mobilephone addiction tendency not only directly, but also through social-evaluated anxiety tostrengthen mobile phone addiction tendency indirectly.
