Research On The Poetry Of Planting In Tang Dynasty

For a long period,the research on the Tang poetry of planting is less mentioned.Poetry of planting is an important category in Tang poetry since planting played a significant role in the daily life of people in Tang Dynasty.This paper collects all the poetry of planting from the entire Tang poetry which comprehensively expounds Tang poetry of planting based on topic content and artistic feature.It has the important innovative significance in discipline study and makes the research of Tang poetry to be more comprehensive and deeper.This paper is composed of introduction,body text and conclusion.In the introduction,this paper summarized the research results about poetry of planting.First,it briefly defines the meaning of “poetry of planting” and states the current research results.Second,it illuminates the development status of poetry of planting before the Tang Dynasty.The body text is divided into five different chapters.The first chapter summarizes the creation of Tang poetry of planting.Since the poetry reflects the different characters among early Tang,prosperous Tang and Middle and late Tang Dynasty,the developmental stage of the poetry is divided into different parts according to the history of Tang Dynasty in first section.In order to make a more comprehensive demarcation for Tang poetry of planting,the second section categorizes Tang agricultural activities.The third section analyzes the reason of rising of the poetry of planting in Tang Dynasty from the preference of enjoying flowers,preference of constructing courtyard and the evolution of writing style in Middle Tang Dynasty.The second chapter analyzes the topic contents of Tang poetry of planting.By reading the Tang poetry of planting,this chapter divided poetry pf planting into three major types depending on expression of feelings.The first one realistically depicts farmers' life.Poets outpoured humanistic care by describing natural disaster,chaos caused by war and corvee.The second one expresses easy and comfortable living conditions.Poets enjoyed the time for gardening,enjoyed rurality instead of being an official and cultivated their noble sentiments which embodies romanticism in Tang People's heart.The third one expresses the feelings for past life.Poets presented their shed tears over the changes of seasons and yearning for friends and hometown by growing plant.The third chapter demonstrates artistic expression of Tang poetry of planting by using unique images including nature,creatures and handcrafts.These images within poetry of planting deepens literati temperament.Moreover,Tang poetry of planting creates moonstruck,unrestrained and undefiled visualization for the poets.It also reveals time consciousness and spatial metaphor for Poets.The fourth chapter discusses middle and late Tang poets' aesthetic perspectives.There are two main aspects of aesthetic perspectives reflecting from Tang Poetry of planting: 1.Realistic writing.Middle and late Tang poets prefer aesthetic characteristics of realistic writing which can learned from content and writing techniques of poetry of planting.2.Leisure feelings.Whether analyzing from “carrier” or “application”,poetry of planting fully reflects carefree mood.Especially in the aspect of “carrier”,poetry of planting builds up multilayer aesthetic,such as advocating elegance,keeping inside heartsease.The fifth chapter presents several case studies about Tang poetry of planting.Bai Juyi's poetry of planting is particularly focused on in this part.Bai's poetry of planting is quiet representative in the middle and late Tang's literatures regardless of amount,content and affection of his poetry oeuvre.All his literary works have distinct individualism characteristics.This chapter mainly discussed Bai's three personal characteristics which is different from other poets' poetry of planting: First,Bai's interlaced official career and cultivating experience;Second,species richness of Bai's planting;Third,reflection of Bai's preference in planting.By the end of this paper,it emphasizes the meaning and value of Tang poetry of planting which briefly summarize the main point of this paper.
