This is a report on the translation of“ Love,Accidentally” which is a short fiction of realism authored by Sarah Pekkanen,a contemporary veteran reporter and columnist in America. The story mainly tells us a relationship occurring between two young people and it presents many delicate descriptions of which most are about the heroin's feelings and emotions.Despite the simple plot, this fiction can arouse sympathy in the readers with its warm words and exquisite writing style.Through this practice, the translator aims to grasp several translation techniques and improve the translation skills. In the translation, the translator adopts some translation methods under the guidance of the cognitive linguistic theories including frame theory,figure-ground theory and conceptual metaphor theory to solve the translation difficulties in the aspects of words, phrases and metaphors. In the report, the translator tries to make some analyses through specific examples to illustrate the significance of cognitive theory in guiding the translation practice. This report is composed of five parts,in additional to the introduction of the report and the conclusion,of which the rest include textual analysis, translation process and case study about how to apply the theories to the practice.
