Difficulties In Telephone Interpreting And Coping Tactics

With the booming of community interpreting,telephone interpreting has seen its increasing demand in business conversation.In China,telephone interpreting industry is experiencing a rapid expansion due to its flexibility,convenience,high efficiency and low cost.But lack of visual information causes many difficulties in telephone interpreting such as the lost of the message,unsmooth turn-taking,distrust in interpreter and technical problems.In dealing with these difficulties,the author proposed some coping tactics like amplification,management of turn-taking,full preparation and technical restoration and explanation in order to not only improve the quality of telephone interpreting,but also to help other interpreters deal with similar problems in their own telephone interpreting task in the days to come.
