Wuzhou Dialect Pronunciation Study

Based on the linguist theory,this paper comprehensively described and analyzed Wuzhou dialect.Many scholars pay attention to Yue dialect of Guangzhou and Hong Kong.Wuzhou dialect is very similar to Guangzhou dialect.But the scholars put little attention to it.The investigation of Wuzhou dialect spots is still empty.There is seldom work about its systematic research now.There are two purposes of this paper.First,it can compare Wuzhou dialect with mandarin and it can compare Wuzhou dialect with the mid-ancient phonology.Second,it can fill the empty part of the phonology system of Wuzhou dialect.It can fill up the empty of Wuzhou dialect research,and make more scholars pay attention to the Wuzhou dialect and then create more work about its systematic research.This paper covers seven chapters.Chapter 1 is introduction.This part introduced the research purpose,content,the source of data on this paper,the study background and general situation of Wuzhou geography and language.The principal part is from chapter 2 to chapter six.Chapter 2 is about the phonetic system of Wuzhou.It includes initial consonant system,final consonant system,tone system and their conjugating connection.Chapter 3 is about the pronunciation change when people speak continuously.Chapter 4 is about the pronunciation in literary reading and colloquial reading in the dialect.Chapter 5 is about the comparison made between Wuzhou phonology and mandarin.It concludes three aspects: initial consonants,final consonants and tone.Chapter 6 is about the comparison made between Wuzhou phonology and mid-ancient phonology.It concludes three aspects: initial consonants,final consonants and tone.Furthermore,study the law of evolution in Wuzhou phonology excepting.Chapter 7 is a brief summary.The last is appendix.It is Wuzhou dialect homonym.It can offer the first-handmaterials for studying Wuzhou dialect phonology system.
