The Study Of Zhu Xi's New Concept And Old Concept Of Harmony

"Harmony" is the crucial part of Chinese philosophy history.The concept derives from The Doctrine of Mean,and can be found from the ancient to modern Chinese philosophy,especially in the study of Mind in Song Dynasty.It also influences the new Confucianism of contemporary.The most typical study is the "old concepts of harmony" and "new concepts of harmony"of Zhu Xi.In Contemporary study,Mou Zongsan's opinion is the most famous,typical and representative.Zhu Xi had been lost in the thought of "harmony" several times.Finally his ideas changed from "old concepts of harmony"into "new concepts of harmony".This is a big change of his academic thought.As a master of idealist philosophy of the Song Dynasty,Zhu Xi solved the problem of "harmony".This features prominently in his academic achievements and idealist philosophy of the Song Dynasty.We must study the change from"old concepts of harmony" into "new concepts of harmony" if we want to study Zhu Xi's philosophy thought.In Contemporary study,Mou Zongsan's study of Zhu Xi's philosophy thought is important.This essay studies Zhu Xi's "harmony","old concepts of harmony","new concepts of harmony"based on Mou Zongsan's opinion.There are four chapters in this essay.The first chapter of this essay explains the reason why he moved his to focus from Zen to Confucianism.The main analysis is about the influence from his teacher Li Yanping and the reason why they departed.Based on document,thought the systematic analysis of Zhu Xi's letters about "old concepts of harmony" and "new concepts of harmony",chapter two wants to build an rational understanding of the document,and the theory evidence.This chapter analyses the main idea of "old concepts of harmony" and "argumentation" of Zhu Xi,then analyses the influence from Zhang Nanxuan and Hu Wufeng to "old concepts of harmony" of Zhu Xi deeply.Based on the explanation of the creative features and meaning of "new concepts of harmony",chapter three compares the differences between "old concepts of harmony" and"new concepts of harmony".After discussion of Zhu Xi's inheritance and criticism to Hu Wufeng's thoughts of mind and nature,the chapter explains the rational speculation on Zhu Xi's philosophy.The fourth chapter explains the inner moral force of Zhu Xi by analysis of the relationship among "good nature","evil by nature" and Zhu Xi's philosophy.This essay tries to explain Zhu Xi's internal saints by the way of stating Zhu Xi's harmony.The previous research is full of sectarian disputes and excludes Zhu Xi's idea,thus lacks of the research of Zhu Xi's internal saints.After being studied the previous and contemporary research,this essay points out Zhu Xi's digestion of Huxiang ideas,the creative explanation of Zhu Xi's harmony,his academic thought of mind,the reason why he turned old concepts into new concepts.This essay tries to get some new conclusion by studying the above objects and exploring the modern Confucianism structure and value system.
