Memory is a key process in interpreting,as it serves as the linkage between the processes of listening and production. An interpreter resorts to memory for what has been acquired during the listening process, which will in turn be reproduced in target language after being extracted from memory in the production process. The essay is based on the author's interpretation practice in Radio Asia 2016 Conference.Through applying theories related to memory in psychology such as filter models of attention, interference theory and Daniel Gile's Effort Models in case analyses, the author found out factors affecting her memory in interpreting. She also came up with several advices to strengthen the interpreter's short-term memory capacity based on theoretical research and practice experience. |
