A Research Of Zhang Ling's Novel Under The Cross-culture Perspective

As a representative writer of new immigrant literature in North America,Zhang Ling who has placed in a cross regional and cultural environment,lives in the coexistence of multiple forms of social space,her creation shows rich life experience and profound philosophy of life with a broad perspective.This paper which uses Zhang Ling's novels as the main object of study,based on close-reading,presents a systematical study in Zhang Ling's novels from three aspects such as the cross cultural perspective from the identity,space types and narrative strategies.The first chapter in-depth analysis from the perspective of cross cultural identity in Zhang's novels.She integrates personal experience and national emotion into the construction of cultural identity,injecting into their own spiritual characteristics.This chapter combines the theory of "cultural identity","self and others" theory,first discusses the stick to the traditional family,who emigrated overseas immigrant groups are still clinging to the maternal identity self-image,then analyzes fraternity missionaries and Professor image,open the image of the other non Chinese city.Through the self image and the image of the other,the performance of the self in the other control of the home to find their own understanding,and ultimately establish their identity to the local identity.The second chapter discusses the types of space in Zhang Ling's novels.Each of her works are related to multiple geographical space conversion,most of people across the ocean free outside and close ties with the mainland,the characters in the novel experience,twist of fate and space changes were significantly correlated.People struggling in the constantly changing space,the purpose is to find the right place to live,the pursuit of the spiritual world of filling.Between husband and wife,parents and children,through psychological and emotional changes of space characters and sisters at home and abroad was life,social life changes brought to the space between native and foreign complex love hate ambivalence.The third chapter explains the narrative strategy in Zhang's novels.She is flexible in the use of a variety of narrative writing skills,and she has a broad field of vision in cross cultural writing.Zhang Ling's novels always relates to the East and the west,past and present,history and reality,time interleaved writing time to break the linear order of development,virtual and real time description to guide readers to reflect the history.She started from Wenzhou Zaoxi beside the road and walk to a water ocean,cross national water imagery and the combination of Chinese and Western image by the author is compatible with open Diaolou cultural mentality.At the same time in the novel multiple flexible narrative conversion omniscient and omnipotent narrative effect,let readers immersed in a text full of tension.This chapter mainly from the timing of the narrative structure,well versed in Chinese and western narrative imagery,change the flow of narrative perspective these three aspects to explore the narrative strategy in Zhang Ling's novel.
