The original is an article published in the Journal of Culture and Psychology.Many Faces of the Concept of Culture(and Education)was written by Eugene Matusov and Ana Marjanovic-Shane.They examine four conceptual gestalt approaches to culture and education,which will helpus to deepen our understanding of the relationship between culture and education.In the process of translation,the translator has great difficulty in understanding long sentences.In order to solve this problem,the translator analyzes complex sentences in the original text and applies Nida's theory of Functional Equivalence by using some translation skills,such as sequential,reversing,splitting and recasting.This report is composed of five parts.The first part presents the tasks of translation,where the source material,the authors and content of the original text,and the significance of the research are briefly introduced.The second is a summary of the translation process,which includes the preparation of the translator,the problems encountered in the process of translation and the proofreading of the translated text.The third is anintroductionto therelated theory,in which the translator mainly introduces Nida's theory of Functional Equivalence.As for the fourth part,the translator analyzesthe typical examples in the translated text.The last part is a conclusion of the report,including the achievements and shortcomings in this translation practice.
