Since it was unearthed in the 1970 s,the legal documents discovered in the ancient tomb of Han Dynasty in Zhangjiashan(including “Two year laws” and “Zou yan shu”)have been paid much attention.Additionally,because Liye slips of the Qin Dynasty,Yuelu slips of the Qin Dynasty were published gradually in recent years,the academic research of the legal documents is becoming a hot trend again.As the most direct and representative material to research the laws of Han Dynasty,it has retained the appearance of characters at that time in a large degree.Furthermore,it involves a wide range,such as law,politics,economy,geography,culture,etc.Some of them are even beyond the handed-down documents,so we can use it to fill the lack of handed-down documents,and correct their mistakes.In the process of collecting materials and research results,we discovered that no one did the character research in the legal documents field from the angle of character-frequency.So we try to do this,hope it can offer some rich materials for the history of Chinese characters.This paper consists of five parts as follows:Chapter ?,Introduction.This chapter briefly introduces the material to be studied,the reaearch status of the material,the value of the study,and the methods to be used in this study.Chapter ?,The General Introduction of the characters in the legal documents discovered in the ancient tomb of Han Dynasty in Zhangjiashan.Firstly,this chapter briefly introduces the basic information of characters,“he wen” and “chong wen” in the legal documents,then mainly studies the special characters,such as the variant characters,interchangeable characters,ancient and modern characters,misused characters.Finally,this chapter studies the relationships between Chinese characters and words,including one-on-one,one-on-two or one-on-many,two-on-one or many-on-one,comprehensive crossover.Chapter ?,the analysis of core characters in the legal documents discovered in the ancient tomb of Han Dynasty in Zhangjiashan.This chapter firstly shows the general picture of five core characters briefly,then mainly concludes and analyzes each usage of every core character in the legal documents to see the distribution feature of lateral.Combined with reference books,excavated documents,handed-down documents,we try our best to find the earliest and the last examples in these documents to roughly understand these characters' forming time and death time.And then explore the development and evolution process and rules to see the era feature of longitudinal and life situation.Chapter ?,the analysis of high-frequency characters,Intermediate-frequency characters,low-frequency characters in the legal documents discovered in the ancient tomb of Han Dynasty in Zhangjiashan.This chapter firstly shows the general picture of three characters-frequency areas separately.Considering the large amount of characters,and their research significance are not as important as the research significance of core characters and one-frequency characters,we just briefly analyse their usage in the legal documents,and finally illustrate the development and evolution process and rules of each character-frequency area.Chapter ?,the analysis of one-frequency characters in the legal documents discovered in the ancient tomb of Han Dynasty in Zhangjiashan.This chapter firstly shows the general picture of one-frequency characters,and analyses the reason why they appeared only once.Then mainly concludes and analyzes their usage distribution,makes some comparison with List of Frequently Used Characters in Modern Chinese,List of Commonly Used Characters in Modern Chinese,refers to the related documents and materials,to explore the development and evolution process and rules after the Western Han Dynasty.
