In modern times,the “hua” category of Chinese classical aesthetics not only is opposite to the tradition,but also carries on traditions.Even though this category is now in a brand-new era,characteristics of its variation become more distinct than ever and possess inherent vitality.The modernity of “hua” category is reflected not only in the alteration and spanning development of era,but also in the cross thinking of ancient and modern connotation and culture,logic and aesthetics.While investigating the “hua” category of Chinese classical aesthetics,the author closely integrated its ancient and modern characteristics and logical structure to give priority to the ancient category and employ new one to evaluate ancient one.With respect to the original category of “hua”,aesthetic spirit cores of Confucianism,Taoism and Zen in traditional culture,arts category and its interactivity,this paper conducted infinitely expanded thinking,distinguishing and research on this limited aesthetic category.Therefore,this paper can be divided into the following 5 parts.Part 1 is Introduction which presents the background of question proposed and the significance of subject research.Part 2 refers to the definition of “hua” category and the reason why this category becomes an independent category.It includes the generation and evolution of “hua” category,cause analysis and the connection to related aesthetic categories.Based on three spiritual pillars of Chinese culture,part 3 elaborates fundamental aesthetic aims of “persuasion”,“metaplasia” and “invisibility” from perspectives of Confucianism,Taoism and Zen.Furthermore,it uses “hua” as the criterion to explore the nativeness of national culture.Part 4 discusses the relationship between the “hua” category of Chinese classical aesthetics and aesthetic styles of various art categories and thoroughly investigate how the “hua” category permeates and integrates into diversified artistic creations including painting theory,calligraphic theory,literature and poem and how to apply the theory to practice.Part 5 probes into the theoretical value and theoretical significance of Chinese classical aesthetics categories in terms of the first 4 parts' theoretical origins and evolution to further develop the theoretical category system of contemporary Chinese aesthetics.Furthermore,it pursues for the meaning extension of aesthetic categories in modern visual field to realize the consciousness raising of domestic aesthetic categories and search for shelters for the modern significance of “hua” category.
