A Study On Idealism In Su Wei’ Novel

Su Wei’s ups and downs life experiences made his creation go through three kinds of literary boom.Firstly,he made a figure in the literary prosperity of 1980 s,then being a literary pioneer among international students in mainland,and now becoming one of the most important representatives of new immigrant literature.Though extensive as his creation is,the idealism is similar to a red thread,continuously connecting his novel creation.It could find out the trace of his spiritual progression and explored his writing specialties through the research of his works.First of all,during his study abroad,because of the crisis of identity from Chinese complex and the human alienation from the modern civilization,the brightness of idealism was almost completely flooded.Influenced by the clash between Chinese culture and western culture,Su Wei began to introspection on the national and personal relationship,and he broke the bondage of groupism,so the individualism in his creation generated gradually.Then,the thesis focuses on the period of Su’s settlement in American,and explores the spiritual beliefs in three aspects,the disappearance of the revolutionary idealism,ethical order of idealized folk and the surreal figures.Similarly,through three perspectives,the queer human experiences,the break out of introspection and the form of narration,the thesis will analyze Su’s novel on the breakout of culture revolution in spiritual space to reveal the value and significance of the spiritual idealism.Finally,through the relation between idealism and identity and cultural mentality,it could explore the reasons why his creations constantly fulfill with idealism.For one thing,the continuous use of idealism is that idealism is treated as a kind of spiritual pursuit that reflects the effort of constructing identity.For another thing,it reveals the writing style and status of Su Wei,an oversea intellectual.
