Target readers are normally taken as the primary part in the process of aesthetic reproduction in translating practice.Reception aestheticians attach more importance to readers' active participation and their acceptance of the translated texts;they hold that readers' reaction is one of the significant criteria in evaluating the quality of translation of children's literature. As a particular subcategory, children's literature plays a crucial role in developing children's reading competence and contributing to their first language acquisition.Given the unique features of its target readers, the language employed by translators in translating children's literature should be concise, vivid, clear and logic. In addition, the uniqueness of children's literature should be well preserved in order to draw children's attention and enrich their aesthetic experiences. From the perspective of reception aesthetics, the present thesis analyzes translation of children's literature in terms of the linguistic style and reproduction of childness.More specifically, this thesis compares two translations of The Wind in the Willows with the focus on linguistic style, vocabulary, sentences as well as rhetorical devices;meanwhile, the reproduction of childness is basically elucidated in terms of sound, image and characterization.By childness, the author means the quality of the translation being dynamic, imaginative, experimental, interactive and unstable. The research findings show that in the two translations,Yang succeeds in reproducing aesthetic values of the source text by euphemistic words.Ren tends to adopt concise and clear words to get close to child readers.Considering the uniqueness of children's literature, translators are supposed to adopt concise vocabulary and short sentences to draw children's attention.Meanwhile, the rhythmic words, such as onomatopoeia, alliteration, reduplicative words are used to visualize the expressions. In addition, vivid descriptions of image and distinctive characters may contribute to stimulating children's reading interest and arousing their sympathy.
