The Research On Neology In The Seventh Edition Of Modern Chinese Dictionary

Vocabulary is the embodiment of social development,and it changes with the change of society.Many new words appear with the rapid development of society,some of them appear by giving the old words with new meanings,which is called "neology"."Old words with new meaning" is regarded as a convenient and economical way of meaning development,it not only enriches the meanings of Chinese meaning and vocabulary system,but also reflects the trend of contemporary Chinese.This article is the study of the neologism phenomenon in the seventh Modern Chinese Dictionary,I want to collect the facts of language,explore the language rules of old words with new meanings,then enrich the research content of Chinese lexicology.The article mainly includes six parts.The first part mainly expounds the basis of this thesis topic,significance,research objectives,research methods and data sources,and summarizes previous studies from the perspectives of lexical semantics,social linguistics and cognitive linguistics.The second part mainly studies the syllabic characteristics,nature distribution and structure of neology.The double syllables is still the main syllable.Regarding of parts of speech,It includes the old meanings as same as the new meanings and the new meanings differing from the old meanings.In terms of structure,I mainly analyze the regular pattern with comparing the same or different structures of old and new meanings.The third part mainly explores the generating mode of old words with new meanings.It includes extension method,rhetoric method,reduction method and borrowing method,extension method and rhetoric method play important roles in the process.Extension method includes three types,and rhetoric method includes six types.The fourth part mainly analyzes the using numbers and areas of the old words with new meanings.based on graphic database of the online edition of "people's Daily",This article tries to explore the using rules in dynamic language space,focus on the changes brought by the new meanings,and strives to make a comprehensive analysis and description.The fifth part mainly explores the reasons of this phenomenon from the aspects of social factors,cognitive factors and the structure of language rules.The sixth part is the conclusion of this article,and this part makes us face some deficiencies and clear the direction of further research.
