An Approach To The Disyllabic Compound Human Body Words In Modern Chinese

This thesis targets on the disyllabic compound human body words in modern Chinese.Firstly,we embarked on the research to them from the synchronic perspective and selected the disyllabic compound human body words from the sixth edition of the modern Chinese Dictionary which regarded as the prototype.Then,we departmentalized the system into five semantic fields and analyzed its structure and semantics.Based on the above statistics,we proceeded with the lexicalized analyses from the diachronic prospective to the disyllabic compound human body words ranked as five levels,exploring the process of its formation,and seeking the clues of its lexicalization.Besides,we maked researches to other word-formation methods excepting to lexicalization.Finally,we would summarize the mechanism and motivations behind of the lexicalization.In the first chapter,we chiefly introduced the object of this paper,cleared up the history and the status of the research.Besides,stating briefly about the research methods,innovation points and the purpose of it.The second chapter mainly explored the disyllabic compound human body words in modern Chinese from the synchronic perspective,analyzing the system according to the five semantic fields meanwhile.Through the structural analysis,the paper figured out that the disyllabic compound disyllabic human body words form mainly by the combined type,the formal type,and the annotated supplement type.In which,the combined precedes the other types slightly.Through the semantic analysis,we found the two morphemes include five semantic relations on the whole,and the whole meaning of the words can't equal the sum of the two morphemes simply.The third chapter mainly researched the disyllabic compound human body words in modern Chinese from the diachronical perspective.We adopted the lexicalized analyses to the disyllabic compound human body words in modern Chinese ranked as five levels.Then,we put emphasis on the exploration of the word-formation on them,researching other word-formation ways of the disyllabic compound human body words,and found that they can form disyllabic compound human body words through morphology,such as compounding of two roots excepting to the lexicalization of phrases,and we researched it meanwhile.In chapter four,we investigated the mechanisms and motivations behind of the lexicalization via the internal and external factors,and drew a conclusion that different factors lead to the lexicalization of the disyllabic compound human body words,such as the restriction on rhythm,the semantic transformation on the constituent,and liner adjacence of the constituent.Besides,the chunking mechanism,the metaphoric cognitive mechanism,the metonymic cognitive mechanism,the cultural mechanism and other pragmatic motivations can exert some influences as well.
