The Lexicalization Of "Ji-Er"

The thesis mainly discusses the lexicalization of conjunctions"Ji-er(继而)",by comprehensive observation of corpus.The thesis also analyses the motivation and mechanism of lexicalization.The thesis is made up by five Chapter.Chapter one takes a brief view on the research of"Ji-er(继而)". The research on the"X—Er(X—而)"and lexicalization is referred too.Chapter two makes a comparison between the lexicalization of"Ji-er (继而)"and the grammaticalization of the"Ji(继)".Chapter three discusses the function of conjunction"Er(而)"in the lexicalization of"Ji-er(继而)". Chapter four describes the lexicalization of"Ji-er(继而)".The lexicalization of"Ji-er(继而)"is one of Trans-1ayered structure. The verb"Ji"lost its characters;meanwhile it got combined with"E(r而)"gradually in this process. It was in Song Dynasty that"Ji-e(r继而)"evolved into conjunction widely.Its source construction is"[Ji+N]+ER+ VP2]".Chapter two,Chapter three and Chapter four is the essence of the thesis.Chapter five analyses the motivation and mechanism of the lexicalization of"Ji-er(继而).
