Study Of Buddhist Music Foguang Temple In Hebei Province In Dingzhou City

Buddhism,originated in ancient India,was introduced into China during the years of Emperor Ming in Eastern Han.With the spread of Buddhism,Buddhist music gradually influenced the development of Chinese traditional music.In Tian Qing's article,a discussion on Buddhism and Chinese music,he pointed that the influence of religion on traditional culture is not so subtle as someone has estimated,only Buddhism itself has penetrated into all fields of Chinese traditional culture-language,literature,sculpture,painting,calligraphy,architecture and music-visibly or invisibly.Therefore,the Buddhist music,while inheriting the characteristics of foreign music,is nurtured by China traditional music and folk music.So there is a close connection between Buddhist music and traditional music.In the study of Buddhist music,we also made a theoretical guidance for the study of Chinese traditional music.Using the research methods of ethnomusicology insider and outsider double perspective,the thesis,through a number of in-depth field investigation,attempts to make an objective analysis,induction and summary on Buddhist music of the Foguang Temple in Dingzhou City,Hebei Province.Adopting the method of combining empirical and speculative,the author analyzed the historical origin,form,development and heritage protection of Dingzhou Foguang Temple Buddhist music in detail,objectively descripted the status quo of the inheritance and development of the local folk music.The thesis contributes to thorough understanding and thinking of the folk characteristics in today's Folk Buddhism music form and characteristics of music culture under precipitation of Folk Buddhist music.
