A Practice Report On The Escort Interpreting At Western Qing Tombs

To further exploit local tourism resources and advocate local characteristic culture,Baoding city held the First Conference of Hebei Tourism Industry Development from 23 rd to 25 th,September,2016.One of the main activities of this conference is leading tourists to visit Western Qing Tombs.Because many foreign tourists joined this activity,the interpreter was honored to become a volunteer translator to provide interpreting service during the visit.Based on the interpreting task,this report comprises five chapters: task description,process description,preparation for interpreting,case analysis and summary.In Chapter 1 and Chapter 2,the report demonstrates how the whole task was carried out.In Chapter 3,the report explains how to search relevant information and make full preparations before on-site interpreting.In Chapter 4,this report elaborates how to employ transliteration,literal translation,liberal translation,addition and omission to interpret the culturally-loaded words,namely words related to tombs,religious words and phrases,proper names and descriptive phrases.The proper translation of culturally-loaded words is favorable for advocating traditional Chinese culture.In Chapter 5,the report summarizes the gains and losses of the interpreting task.
