On October,1978,a bronze He(hereinafter referred to as "Taojiang He")discovered from a recycle company by Taojiang Cultural Relics Administration Office has attracted great attention of Cultural Relics Administration Office.The shape of Taojiang He is barrel-type,which is unique and rare among the bronzes in Shang and Zhou dynasties.Till now,there are not any paper researches on Taojiang He and few has conducted the study on it,however,the items have important research value.This paper focus on the researches of Taojiang He and analyzes its character of shape,decorations and Leaf edges in detail,based on the typical characters research,firstly,analyzing the evaluation rules of the barrel-type He and barrel-tape You in Central Plains by method of archaeological typology,which aims to confirm the approximate time period.Meanwhile,it also analyzes the key popular ages of decorations and Leaf edges in Taojiang He,and concludes that the casting time of Taojiang Heis the early Western Zhou Dynasty.Secondly,this paper compares the decorations,inscriptions and Leaf edges of Taojiang He with the bronze of Hunan and Central Plains in the same period by the analytical method of the cultural elements and concludes that Taojiang He is mainly featured by the cultural elements of Central Plains and it should be the product of Central Plains.Finally,by comparing Taojiang He with Ningxiang bronze materials group,this paper makes a conclusion that Taojiang He is part of Ningxiang bronze materials group and they both belong to Tanheli Culture and reckons that there is a very definite possibility that Taojiang He was brought to Hunan under the background of the cultural communication of the Tanheli Culture and Western Zhou dynasty.
