Social Support And Acculturation Among Migrant Children:the Mediating Effect Of Resilience

As the new urbanization is processing,the population of migrant children is growing larger.The migrant children in rural areas have the problem of acculturation in the urban life.Discussion on migrant children's acculturation,including not only the surface of the socio-cultural adaptation,but also including deep psychological adaptation.It's our concern that if migrant children can use and how to use social support and other external resources to mobilize the migrant children's own advantages.And transform these into comprehensive reflection of individual resilience ability.It it's important to promote migrant children's acculturation.We adopted the “Social Support Scale”,“Adolescents' Resilience Scale”,“Sociocultural Adaptation Scale” and “Subjective Well-being Scale”,the scales were administered to 422 migrant children randomly selected from public schools of Jiangsu,Shanghai.We use correlation analysis,regression analysis and mediating effect test with the SPSS19.0,AMOS17.0 and Mplus7.4to explore the relationship between the current situation of migrant children's social support,acculturation and resilience of migrant children.As well as the mediating role of resilience.The results show that:(1)In this study,migrant children's socio-cultural adaptation were in good condition and better than their psychological adaptation;(2)migrant children's social support significantly influenced acculturation,especially the objective support and utilization of support,the higher level of social support,the better migrant children's acculturation;(3)social support has a significant positive influence on the resilience,especially the objective support and utilization of support,the higher level of social support,the better migrant children'sresilience;(4)resilience has a significant positive effect acculturation,the higher the level of resilience,the better migrant children'sacculturation;(5)migrant children's resilience acted as a mediator between socio-cultural adaptationand psychological adaptation.So social support have a positive impact on migrant children'sacculturation through resilience.
