On Listening Comprehension Barriers And Coping Strategies In Interpretation

Listening comprehension in interpretation is different from that in daily life.It is more complicated and maybe the most challenging part of interpretation,and so it needs to be paid more of our attention to.This is an empirical study based on the English to Chinese interpretation of the mock conference of 2016 APEC CEO Summit during which the author encountered some problems concerning listening comprehension.In this paper,the author first elaborates why the listening comprehension in interpretation should be attached more importance to,as well as the significance of it.Then,the author analyses the hurdles encountered during the mock conference and tries to propose some solutions to each kind of the problems.The author intends to find ways to improve the effectiveness of interpreting training and to promote the quality of interpretation.Moreover,the author hopes that the paper could shed some lights on those who might have same problems.
