| Listening comprehension is the very first and the most basic step for interpretation,and the lack of listening comprehension ability can lead to the inefficiency of how an interpreter performs,including aspects of information,fluency and accuracy.In interpretation,the lack of listening comprehension ability shows in various perspectives and is influenced by many factors.In the mock conference “An Interview with William A.Haseltine by the Brookings Institution”,the author found that the most frequent problem is the lack of listening comprehension ability.So in this paper,the author mainly analyzes the reasons for the lack of listening comprehension ability based on her errors in the mock conference,finding that cognition,comprehension of English,deverbalization and background knowledge play a role.Later,the author concludes with long-term and short-term strategies that can be used to improve the listening comprehension ability and therefore the overall performance. |
