Research On Relationship Amongb Self-concept,Integration Into Urban Society And Prosocial Behavior Of New Generation Of Migrant Workers

Nowadays,as the economy continues to develop rapidly and the urbanization process is speeding up,the demand of labor force for urban construction and development is expanding.In recent years,more and more new generation of migrant workers have entered the city and gradually become the main force in China's urban modernization construction.Because of the differences of personal quality,living habits,cultural backgrounds and other aspects,the new generation of migrant workers will have a sense of frustration,lack of sense of belonging,which are difficult to integrate into urban society.At the same time,it also causes the group self-concept of fuzzy and deviation.Prosocial behaviors are social behaviors that conform to social expectations,such as gratitude,sharing,help,courtesy,etc.The research of prosocial behavior is of great significance to the urban integration,self-concept and the development of citizenization of new generation of migrant workers.The main purpose of the research is to study the prosocial behavior tendencies and it's related factors of the new generation of migrant workers.Through analysis and discussions on both theories and practies,we can provide theoretical supports and policy basis for strengthening the construction of social ideology and morality,effectively promoting social transformation,and achieving a better harmonious socialistsocietyOn the basis of the previous studies,this research randomly selected 600 new generation of migrant workers from Hangzhou,Zhejiang as the subjects,meanwhile,The Prosocial Tendencies Measurement Scale,Integration into Urban Society Scale and Tennessee Self-Concept Scale are used as the instruments.With the analyzes of the new generation of migrant workers' present situation and characteristics of prosocial behavior tendencies,and the relationship between prosocial behavior and self-concept and the level of integration into urban society,the study draws the following conclusions:(1)In the survey of the new generation of migrant workers,The Prosocial Tendencies Measurement Scale still has good psychological measurement indicators,indicating that it is suitable for the new generation of migrant workers.(2)Of the types of the new generation of migrant workers' self-reported prosocial behavior tendencies,the emergent prosocial behavioris shown in most cases.And the following are: altruistic prosocial behavior,compliant prosocial behavior,anonymous prosocial behavior,emotional prosocial behavior,public prosocial behavior.(3)The prosocial behavior tendencies have significant differences in the degree of culture and the time of living in the city of the new generation of migrant workers.But there is no significant difference in the gender,age,non-single child and marital status of the new generation of migrant workers' prosocial behavior tendencies.There aie significant differences in groups of different cultural levels in emotional prosocial behavior and in groups of different time of living in the city in the general condition of prosocial behavior,altruistic prosocial behavior and emotional prosocial behavior.(4)The new generation of migrant workers has a better self-concept.The level of various aspects of their self-concept from high to low is family-self,self-identity,moral-ethieal-self,physical-self,social-self,self-behavior,personal-self,selfsatisfaction and self-criticism.(5)The research shows that the prosocial behavior tendency of the new generation of migrant workers is significantly related to ttheir self-concept.Further,anonymous prosocial behavior,altruistic prosocial behavior,compliant prosocial behavior,emergent prosocial behavior and general condition of prosocial behavior are positively correlated with self-concept.Moreover,personal-self,self-criticism and moral-ethiealself can predict 47.6 percent variation in the compliant prosocial behavior tendency.(6)The level of integration into urban society of the new generation of migrant workers is general.The level of all aspects of integration into urban society from high to low is psychological integration,social integration,cultural integration,economic integration and behavior integration.In the current urban living environment,there are still problems in the integration into urban society of this group.(7)There is a significant correlation between prosocial behavior tendencies and integration into urban society of the new generation of migrant workers.Generally speaking,there are significant positive correlations between anonymous,altruistic,compliant,emergent prosocial behavior,general condition of prosocial behavior and integration into urban society.And psychological integration,social integration and behavioral integration can predict 33.8 percent variation in the anonymous prosocial behavior.(8)Self-concept plays a completely intermediary role in the relationship between integration into urban society and prosocial behavior tendencies of the new generation of migrant workers.Integration into urban society not only can directly affect the prosocial behavior tendencies,but also influence the prosocial behavior tendencies through self-concept.It is of vital importance to strengthen the self-concept of the new generation of migrant workers to promote their integration into the city and prosocial behavior.
