This paper presents the application of recordings,questionnaires and individual interviews methods to study 51 Philippine freshmen' Chinese tone learning,discusses connections between the acquisition of Philippine students' Chinese bi-syllabic-tone and meta-cognitive learning strategies,and finally analysis the data with SPSS.The general order of Philippine students' Chinese tone learning is:Tone4>Tonel>Tone2>Tone3.Chinese tonal error mainly appears in front.From the further investigation about tone pattern and pitch,the reason that affect Philippine students' Chinese tone learning are analyzed.The conclusion reveals relativity between the difference of incidental lexical learning strategies and learning efficiency of two types learners.In meta-cognitive learning,gender doesn't affect largely.Planning strategies is significant between types learners,while other three strategies does not show differences.Taking the Chinese tone learning as variables,the qualitative research shows that Planning strategies and Monitoring strategies significant positive correlation between high-proficiency learners,while Planning strategies shows significant negative correlation between low-proficiency learners.Based on above investigates and analyses,we thus conclude some suggestions for Chinese tone teaching and Meta-cognitive teaching.This paper also provides further help for Philippine students who are setting up their own Meta-cognitive learning strategies system,and enhance their Chinese tone learning.
