Investigation On Language Situation In Urban Villages Of Shijiazhuang

In recent years,accelerated urbanization of China is speeding up,dramatic changes are taking place in urban village as a result of urbanization,language use of urban village is becoming much more complicated as well.This situation makes urban village a great case to research on language use,language ability,language attitude and dialectal variation.Based on the background of urban village in Shijiazhuang,this dissertation tries to make a sociolinguistics research on language situation and dialectal variation of urban village from both the macro and micro aspects,which can help us to know more about the language situation in urban village,to predict the future development trend of its dialect,and also can enrich the content of urban language research.Using the method of questionnaire,interview and observation,we conducted investigation and studies on present language situation of urban villages in Shijiazhuang.With the guidance of sociolinguistics theory,this dissertation focuses on language use,language ability,language attitude and the intergenerational language expectation of urban villagers.At the same time,this dissertation combines dialects with sociolinguistics together,which exceeds the bound of traditional single discipline.In order to find the potential social factors which may affect cause the variation of urban village dialect,this dissertation takes YuDi dialect as an example,discussing the relations of "co-variation" between language and society.This dissertation is divided into four parts.The first part is introduction,which mainly introduces the origin of the topics,current research on urban language research and Shijiazhuang dialect,theoretical basis,significance,content and the innovation of the research.The second part is consist of chapter 1 to chapter 3,with the combination of questionnaire,observation and interview,this dissertation makes a comprehensive investigation and description on language use,language ability and language attitude of urban villagers;based on that,this dissertation also analyses some related social factors with the help of mean analysis,correlation analysis and linear regression.The third part is chapter 4,this section tries to combine dialectology and sociolinguistics together in order to analyses the variation and change which is happening in YuDi dialect;tones,sharp sound characters,the entering tone and dialect vocabulary are selected as the key objects of this chapter,in which we can explore the relations of"co-variation" between language and society.The last part is conclusion,it reviews and summarizes this dissertation,and demonstrates proposals for future study.
