The overall protection of regional cultural heritage is the need of the new type of urbanization, and it is the need of cultural and natural, tangible and intangible cultural heritage. With the rapid development of urbanization, the cultural heritage and living environment that have accumulated over thousands of years have been seriously threatened in many places. The National New Urbanization(2014-2020)proposes to pay attention to the construction of humanities cities, strengthen the protection of cultural resources and cultural ecology of famous historical and cultural cities, historical and cultural districts, and ethnic customs towns. However, from the perspective of the theory and practice of regional cultural heritage, there are many studies on the spatial distribution of regional cultural heritage at the provincial level and above, and there are few studies on the micro-scales of cities and counties. This article takes the first historical and cultural city in China,Chengde City,Hebei Province,as an example to analyze the type characteristics, spatial distribution characteristics and spatial distribution of cultural heritage. The research results show that Chengde's cultural heritage is numerous, diverse, and long in time. The spatial distribution is agglomerative, and the overall situation is unbalanced. The cultural heritage cluster forms a high-density core area and the surrounding five other secondary dense areas. The cultural heritage is characterized by the linear distribution along the rivers of Jing Cheng Mulan,Qiu Jun,Ancient Yu Dao,the Warring States Period, and the Great Wall of the Han Dynasty,as well as the rivers within the area. The spatial distribution of cultural heritage shows the influence of historical and cultural factors such as topography and landform, natural factors such as historical rivers, the ancient Great Wall of ancient Yudao, and historical and economic factors such as the Warring States Period,Han Dynasty,Liao Jinyuan and the Qing Dynasty. On the basis of this, the paper proposes the overall protection strategy for municipal cultural heritage on cultural heritage agglomeration areas, linear cultural heritage, and other aspects. The paper mainly studies from three parts:The first part: The research background and purpose significance of the overall protection and development of regional cultural heritage are studied,as well as the research on the protection of regional cultural heritage at home and abroad, the spatial distribution of regional cultural heritage, etc.,and the related theories are elaborated to provide a theoretical basis for the study of this article. The second part: The regional overview and types of cultural heritage in Chengde are described. From the perspective of space, the spatial distribution types, overall distribution characteristics, agglomeration areas, and linear distribution characteristics of Chengde regional cultural heritage are analyzed, and the nature that affects its spatial distribution is analyzed.Research on historical culture, historical economy and other factors aims to provide reference for the protection and development of Chengde's cultural heritage. The third part: Through the above research, based on the spatial distribution characteristics of Chengde's cultural heritage, combined with the “linkage” between cultural heritages,Chengde's regional cultural heritage protection strategies will be proposed, and the research results will be summarized and analyzed.
