Application Of Dong Minority Traditional Patterns In Modern Children's Wear Design

The aesthetic attributes and national element features of Chinese Dong minority costume patterns have brought limitless design inspirations for present-day costume designers.The focus of this research lies in drawing upon Dong minority traditional patterns for modern children's wear design.This thesis practices how to extract the pattern elements in Dong's traditional costumes and incorporate the costume patterns and designs with ethnic cultural characteristics into modern children's wear design through design innovation.The research focus of this thesis lies in guiding the innovative design of costume designers in the means of theory and practice.By exploring theoretical research on ethnic patterns and elements and discussing design theory and creation practice of this type of products,children's wear products conforming to modern aesthetics and characteristics of the times is expected to be designed.Firstly,the traditional patterns of Dong minority are extracted and collated,namely extraction of elements like contours,textures,structures and colors from traditional patterns,which will be later used into the design of new-style children's wear.Much effort is made to strike a balance between ethnic tradition and modern culture.Besides,the ethnic patterns are restructured by breaking up the objective forms into parts.Through restructuring processing like reorganization,overturning and free transformation,new patterns come into shape according to certain rules of transformation.The layout and position are re-operated to make a breakthrough in style for pictorial new creation.Secondly,elements of traditional patterns are also summarized and collated,which can effectively assist our design.According to the features of children's wear at different ages,traditional patterns of Dong minority are incorporated into modern children's wear design to create patterns rich in vigor and creativeness.Then,it is realized through self-creation to verify the above research.Based on the situation of China,the elements of traditional ethnic costume patterns rich in oriental charm are incorporated into modern children's wear design,hence expanding the creation space of modern children's wear design and creating excellent works conforming to the physical and mental development of children in practice.By studying and collating traditional patterns of Dong minority and abandoning thedependence upon times and historical limitations,this thesis extracts the costume elements of Dong minority and incorporates them into future children's wear design.The key lies in categorization in terms of children's wear style,color and techniques.On the basis of retaining and respecting ethnic culture implication and ethnic characteristics,this thesis extracts the commonality of the pattern features and techniques of the two,and seeks the combination between Dong elements and modern children's wear fashion elements.In addition,it discusses the influence of pattern culture upon children's growth,and ultimately creates modern children's wear rich in creativeness and nationality.
