Cultivation And Construction Of Japanese Children's Design Consciousness

On April 2,2011,the television program “Design a!” which was created for the purpose of cultivating children's designed enlightenment has been launched on NHK TV station in Japan.The program met with a large number of public acclaim as soon as it has been formally launched.It has been updated to more than 300 episodes,and two design exhibitions have been held in Japan.As early as the 1950 s and 1960 s,Japan launched a series of official design revitalization policies and design support plans.After half a century of efforts,it has achieved remarkable results in architectural design,apparel design,graphic design,product design,and services.Now,the Japanese government and designers have focused their attention on children—the creators of the future and the enjoyment of life design.They have provided design enlightenment services for children with the best resources.It is conceivable that in the next half century,Japan's understanding of design will go deeper.This article will have a specific analysis for “Design Ah!”which wiil be based on the style of the program,the content section,the occurrence mechanism,and related promotional activities.The program planner Taku Satoh once talked about the original intention of launching the program-“the consciousness of design,everyone must believe”In fact,with the promotion of the Japanese government,the “consciousness of design” has already spread and have a significant impact on the social construction of Japan.The design recognition platform jointly established by the Japan Industrial Promotion Association and the Japan Excellent Design Award has nurtured a large number of ordinary people who have a basic understanding of the design.It can be said that in Japan the first children's design enlightenment program was established with both elite top-level designs and Extensive social foundations.I hoped that this article can provide design researchers and designers with some ideas for children through the analysis of the motivation,process and value of the program,as well as the preliminary thinking on the topic of children's design education.
