Since the "Chinese Culture Aphasia" was put forward by Cong Cong, the introduction of Chinese culture has been paid more and more attention in China's college English teaching. Most of college English classes use complete immersion approach, however, the effect of expressing traditional Chinese culture in English was far from satisfactory. Therefore, the complete immersion approach or the partial immersion approach, which has a better effect on Chinese culture teaching in college English class? This study, based on Krashen's comprehensive input theory, uses these two different immersion approaches respectively to do an experimental research on traditional Chinese festival culture(The Double Ninth Festival)teaching in English class. The subjects are 61 non-English major sophomores from a university of Guang Xi.This study aims to explore whether there is a significant difference between the two different immersion methods, which method is more effective and why, through various research methods, like literature method, experimentation, and interview. The study uses SPSS 19.0 to analyze the results of two posttests in the two groups by Descriptive Analysis,Independent samples test,Paired samples test,Mann-Whitney test, and Wilcoxon test. The data show:(1)There is a significant difference between group 1(using partial immersion approach)and group 2(using complete immersion approach)in immediate posttest,sig=0.002<0.05;(2)There is a significant difference between group 1 and group 2 in delayed posttest,sig=0.004<0.05.It shows that the partial immersion approach has a better effect than complete immersion approach. And it is easier for students to remember the cultural connotation words and proper nouns when they are taught in partial immersion approach;(3)Comparing the two posttests in the same group,it was found that there was a significant difference between the two posttests respectively,sig=0.000<0.05.It indicates that these two different approaches have no significant difference to the students' retention, and the subjects in whichever group forget most of culture knowledge points.Through the informal interview, the major reasons are that students have negative attitudes and low interests toward traditional Chinese culture and the students in group 2 can not obtain enough comprehensive input. The significance of this study is that teachers should pay great attention to choose appropriate immersion methods and reduce the immersion time in target language in order to increase comprehensive input when introducing Chinese culture into college English teaching.
