As the penetration of international communications of our country,English has increasingly huge influences on our life.Proposal of half "immersive" English teaching mode has provided new direction for solution of this problem.A summary was first made on the existing documents in this thesis.The author defined the concept of"immersive" teaching as a mode in which students are "immerged" in the foreign language circumstance while studying subject knowledge,thus they can combine the singular subject knowledge teaching with the speech situation and atmosphere in the teaching of English and then establish an "English" thinking.The respondent of this thesis was the implementation circumstances of limited immersion English in the English classes,that is,investigations were made on the mode in which teachers build an "English" atmosphere in classes and completely give lessons in English.The research objects was selected to be the "immersive" teaching circumstance of a key school in Xi'an City,and researches were made on the respondents through methods including questionnaire,interview and archival research.Faculties,teaching implementation and feedback of students were respectively investigated through questionnaire and interview,discussions were made on the aspects of implementation and effect of "immersive" teaching and teaching suggestions through clearing up,conclusion and analysis,and insufficiencies in teaching were then concluded:professional structures of teachers were not reasonable;implementation of teaching was lack of support of background culture and relative theories;teachers and students did not have enough confidence or interest on English teaching;and there was difference between the evaluation of teachers and feedback of students.The author also proposed improvement strategies for those problems in combination with the school teaching:create an active immersive teaching atmosphere;select proper teaching methods;improve professional skill level of teachers;promote the use value of"immersive" teaching so as to timely adjust the teaching methods and contents,and finally reach the goal of improvement of English teaching quality.In view that the English teaching level of this school is at the medium position of overall level of Xi'an City,the overall data and implementation situation of this investigation could have certain reference value for the total research on immersive English teaching of Xi' an City and even the whole country.
