Translation Practice Report On Electrical Power Engineering Bidding Documents

The bidding activities have an important position in business.With the propulsion of internationalization,Chinese enterprises have established more cooperation with foreign enterprises.Therefore,bidding documents translation plays an important role in the cooperative bidding of Chinese and foreign enterprises and the project construction.The translation practice report is based on the Chinese-English biding documents translation for Tianjin Wenyuan Electrical Power Engineering Co.Ltd.The translation content is the technical bid,including provisions about the quality assurance system of the project,secure construction measures and measures for fire and burglary prevention on construction site.Biding documents own general features of legal documents,for example,the use of precise and standard words;a large amount of modal verbs that are used to express the order or request;the use of written words and terminology to reflect the profession and preciseness;and the explicit expression by using active sentences and passive sentences.In accordance with Eco-Translatology theory,the translator plays the principal role in translation practice and also,be influenced and restricted by other translation subjects and translation environment.Therefore,in translation process,the translator not only adapts to the translation environment,but also select appropriate translation methods and strategies to make the translation be accepted by readers,then achieve the balance of translation ecosystem.Taking Eco-Translatology theory as theoretical basis,this report analyzes textual features of the biding document,illustrates the difficulties the author met in translation process and then through analyzing the text features,proposes appropriate translation strategies and techniques and summarizes the experience in this translation.This report is aimed at verifying the practical value of Eco-Translatology theory on directing construction documents translation,and providing reference to biding documents translation.
