A Report On E-C Translation Of Electrical Engineering Texts From The Perspective Of Relevance Theory

With the development of technology,the global villages have been connected with the science and technology,therefore the significance of scientific translation is obviously.Electrical Engineering is a leading edge field which has attracted much attention in the world and also is an interdisciplinary.And its application involves all stages of the current industrial system.Therefore,the translation of foreign excellent research literature in the field of electrical engineering is of great significance to the development of relevant fields in China,besides,it is also benefit for the communication of science and technology at home and abroad.This translation report is based on the translation practice of texts on Permanent Magnet Motor Technology's Design and Application(Third Edition)in Electrical engineering English.This thesis studied the application of the relevance theory into the translation of scientific and technological texts.From expects of lexicon,sentence and so on.The translation practice report mainly includes five parts:There are the introduction of translation task,the description of translation procedure,the overview of translation theory,case study and conclusion.It's obviously that the the text is classified as the text function type,the Relevance theory is used as the guidance in the translation process.And in this report,I analyze the problems that I found during translating and introduce the translation strategies that I used during the translation process.From the lexical point of view,there are a large number of professional terms and acronyms used in the selected original text.According to text,there are many complex and long sentences that usually have passive voice in the text.As one of the most essential theories.Relevance theory in cognitive pragmatics,is of great explanatory power and guiding significance to translation.This paper analyzes the relevance translation theory from three aspects:the cognitive pragmatic view,the intention view and the ostensive inferential communication view.Taking the electrical engineering English translation as an example,this paper evaluates the descriptive influence of relevance theory to translation and relates it to the electrical engineering English translation practiceAs application of relevance theory in the source text,the write discover that the translation process of electrical engineering texts is also a double ostensive inferential process.By grasping the author's writing intention accurately,and understanding the target readers' cognitive context and reading purpose,the translator obtains a translation with the best communication effect Therefore,in the process of translation,various translation methods should be adopted flexibly,such as amplification,omission,conversion,division,inversion and etc.,therefore,to increase the contextual effect and decrease the person who reads the paper's cognitive efforts,to realize the best relevance between the translation version and the source text in terms of lexical,sentence,to increase the accuracy and readability of the translation,to make efforts to express the translation with the optimal relevance to the readers between the source text and the target text.
